How strong is a magnet - calculator

A very helpful calculator for those that really need to know the pull-force of any rare earth magnet.

Most online calculators determine pull force based on a theoretical calculation of the flux density. With a few assumptions, flux density (in Gauss) can be related to the expected pull force. Unfortunately, this simplification often fails to match experimentally measured data.

This page calculates expected pull forces based on extensive product testing. The Surface Field data is only valid for points along the center axis of the magnet, and assumes a single magnet in free space.

All dimensions and distances must be in decimal format. Fractional inches will not calculate correctly.

Magnetic Wallpaper Turns Your Entire Home Into a Fridge Door

Usually it's the kitchen that serves as a family's bespoke art gallery, with pint-sized masterpieces affixed to the fridge door with magnets. But if you redecorate with MagScape's unique magnetic wallpaper, every inch of your home can showcase your kid's artistic talents.

MS Plus Alu-Mags - Spring 2013

MagScapes have created Alu-Mags as a range of oversize aluminium cast magnets.

The idea being that if you have a large receptive display area, you need magnets:
- that are large enough to use on a large space
- are easy to grip
- that do not distract the eye from the display
- are powerful enough to hold range of materials
- are tactile to use

Alu-Mags have a simple skittle shape for easy and safe use.

Using aluminium for lightness, strength and aesthetic appeal - these magnets will have nickel coated neodymium magnet (1.5kg pull force) secured into the base to make them strong enough to hold large photos, charts and plans on walls.

Note: Aluminium is a non magnetic material which makes these magnets easier to pack, store, handle and use.

Smaller size: 19mm diameter x 25mm height
Larger size: 33mm diameter x 60mm height

MS Plus: Alu-Mags are due to arrive in Spring 2013...prices to be confirmed.

More from Etsy

A site that promotes hand made items - not cheap but innovative - like these cool gear magnets...

This listing is for one (1) of the sets pictured. Please indicate which set you would like at checkout (set A, set B, set C, or set D). If you do not indicate which set you would like, a random set will be selected.

Each set includes:
1 - 2.75in gear
1 - 2.5in gear
1 - 2in gear
2 - 1.75in gears

Magnetic steampunk inspired gears are modeled on a functionally accurate involute spur gear pattern. Each gear is free spinning and meshes properly with every other gear. All gears can be meshed and will turn if one gear is turned.

Gear bases include a Neodymium (NdFeB) super magnet to hold it securely to any magnetic surface. People love to play with these when they see them on your refrigerator. (Please be aware that some refrigerators are made of non magnetic stainless steel and as such these magnets will not stick or will stick very weakly.)

These magnets are listed as toys but are NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN as they contain small parts that can detach if mistreated.

Please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery. Most items ship in 2-3 days.

Contemporary Chair Called Vuzzle Chair by Christopher Daniel

Yes it uses magnets - clever if less than beautiful design...

This chair is made of 59 cushion cells that can be arranged according to ones moods. Inspired by the Voronoi diagram, each cushion has a neodymium magnet that can remove them and put them together easily to create a chair, You remove 13 cushions and the cube turns into chair to sit on. Each cushion has magnets under the surface which hold the whole structure together.

The Vuzzle Chair by Christopher Daniel Available in three different color patterns.
